Baked Ziti is a baked pasta dish layered with noodles, sauce and cheese. This is the prefect ratio of noodles, sauce and cheese, the added bonus to this dish is Italian sausage.
This has lots of sausage and cheese to make this baked ziti even more delicious. This is the prefect sized recipe for a small family or a family that doesn’t want a ton of leftover.
This recipe comes together very quick and is great for a weeknight dinner, serve with garlic bread and a side salad to make the perfect meal.
Baked Ziti
Ingredients
- 8oz ziti noodles
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage
- 6 oz cream cheese
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 16 oz jarred pasta sauce
- 1/2 cup pasta water
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 shredded Parmesan cheese
- salt and pepper
Directions
- Step 1 Preeat oven to 375°F.
- Step 2 Cook ziti noodles accroding to package instructions.
- Step 3 In a large skillet over medium heat, add Italian sauage, cook and crumble. Once fully cooked, add jarred pasta sauce and pasta water, stir to combine.
- Step 4 In a small sauce pan over medium low heat, add cream cheese, milk, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder and salt and pepper. Stir and cook until cream cheese has melted and combined.
- Step 5 Once noodles have cooked, add about 1/2 of sauce to noddle and stir to combine.
- Step 6 Grease 9in x 9in baking dish with non-stick spray. Add about 1/2 cup of sausage sauce to the bottom of the dish. Layer half of the noodles, 1/2 cheese sauce, 1/2 sausage sauce, 1/2 cheese, repeat. Top with cheese
- Step 7 Bake covered for 20 minutes and uncovered last 10 minutes, or until bubbly and cheese has lighly browned.
- Step 8 Serve with garlic bread.
