This is because the dough is pressed and squirted through a cookie press to make shapes and designs. Perfect Spritz Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into pieces
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- colored sugar
Directions
- Step 1 Preheat oven to 375°F
- Step 2 In a large bowl add butter, powdered sugar and salt- using an electric mixer, cream until light and fluffy
- Step 3 Beat in egg, vanilla and almond extracts
- Step 4 Gradually add flour into mixture
- Step 5 Add cooking mixture to a cookie press fitted with disk of choice
- Step 6 Press dough 2 inches apart on a ungreased cookie sheet
- Step 7 Sprinkle cookies with colored sugar
- Step 8 Bake 6-8 minutes, do not brown
- Step 9 Remove cooked cookies to parchment paper to cool
